To be eligible for consideration, organizations must meet the needs of Little Rock students across one of three categories identified by Little Rock parents and guardians as top priorities:
Helping students improve in specific subject areas such as reading or math.
Offering one-on-one tutoring or student group programs.
Equipping parents or guardians with the tools and training they need to assist their children with online learning.
The Community Support Grant Program does not provide direct support to individuals, for-profit organizations or single-site schools.
When will funding decisions be made?
Funding decisions will be announced October 19, 2020.
How long is the application open?
The application will be open for four weeks – from September 9 through October 7, 2020.
Is there a minimum/maximum dollar amount that I can request?
The Community Support Grant Program provides grants up to $50,000 to nonprofit organizations. Proposals should align with the number of individuals served and the service provided through the project.
What criteria will be used to evaluate applications?
We will be using a variety of criteria to evaluate applications, including:
How the applicant addresses the greatest priorities of Little Rock guardians and parents
How many students and families will be served by the project
Applicant’s connections to the Little Rock community.
While all nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply, more consideration will be given to applications submitted by Little Rock-based organizations.
Can I apply for my school or classroom project?
Only nonprofit organizations are eligible for funding. If you would like to apply for funding to support students in a single school or classroom, we recommend recruiting a nonprofit partner and applying together.
Note that the number of students served will be an important consideration for application reviewers, so the more students your project can reach, the better.
Are existing Walton Family Foundation grantees eligible to apply?
All nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply; however, reviewers will prioritize organizations that are not current grantees of the Walton Family Foundation.
May I submit an application for more than one project?
Yes, organizations may submit applications for more than one project if they have multiple projects that align with the eligibility criteria of the program. However, it is unlikely that any organization will receive funding for more than one project.
How will I be notified when a funding decision is made?
You will be notified at the email address submitted with the application.
If my application is approved, how will I receive funds and how quickly will they be released?
Upon notification of the grant award, you will be asked to submit ACH information and your organization’s W-9. Upon receipt, you will receive funds within 10 business days.
May requests for funding be made for technology or similar items?
If technology is required to address one of the top priorities of Little Rock parents and guardians, then yes. Twelve percent of survey respondents reported not having broadband or a device suitable for online learning.
