Jasmine Hudson and J’Aaron “Jae” Merchant are the dynamic duo behind Black Owned Northwest Arkansas (Black Owned NWA), a vibrant community platform dedicated to celebrating and promoting Black-owned businesses in the region. Launched in March 2019, Black Owned NWA started as a simple initiative to share Black-owned businesses and local events, but it quickly evolved into the definitive voice for Black life in Northwest Arkansas. Whether it’s highlighting dining, art, wellness or cultural events, Jasmine and Jae have created a space where the stories and successes of the Black community are at the forefront.

Jasmine, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, brings her expertise as a retail professional, while Jae, a freelance animator and illustrator from the Virgin Islands, adds her artistic touch to their shared vision. Together, they are Jazzy Jae NWA, a best-friend duo who focus on amplifying the experiences of Black women and the broader Black community through their content. Their platform has become much more than just social media—it’s a hub of cultural exchange, economic empowerment, and creative expression.

Both Jasmine and Jae were honored as Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 recipients, recognizing their leadership and impact in the region. Whether they are curating experiences, promoting cultural events, or advocating for Black-owned enterprises, their dedication to uplifting the community is at the heart of everything they do. Black Owned NWA stands as a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and community building, all driven by the vision and passion of Jasmine and Jae.
