More than 40% of parents and voters say we need bold change in K-12 education to get students back on grade level in reading, writing and math, according to a recent poll. A national survey of 1,200 parents and voters conducted by UpOne Insights and Impact Research provides new insights into the issues in K-12 education that matter most to a majority of Americans.
Although Americans point to lack of funding, mental health concerns and parental involvement as the biggest problems in education, they most want an education system where every child is on grade level. In addition, over 40% of parents are looking for more career based learning opportunities. Another 46% of voters saying students are not adequately prepared for the demands of the modern workforce.
The Walton Family Foundation commissioned the poll.
