Our Housing Future: A Call to Action for Northwest Arkansas

May 27, 2025
5 Years In: Re-examining the Landscape, Recognizing Progress and Refining the Path Ahead

Recognizing the need for a regional housing strategy in Northwest Arkansas, Our Housing Future was first released in September 2019.

Five years later, this updated report looks at how housing needs have changed, what progress has been made on five key actions—like creating a regional housing vision, starting a trust fund, using public land for housing, offering development incentives, and increasing funding—and what challenges remain.

It also offers recommendations to improve the NWA housing roadmap and help the region better meet its current and future housing needs.

Note on AMI Update:

Since the report's completion, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released updated 2025 data showing that the area median income (AMI) in Northwest Arkansas has increased from $94,400 to $101,800. While this new data underscores the region’s ongoing income growth, it does not alter the report's core findings; all analysis is based on the most current data available at the time of publication.
