New research from Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation highlights how parents and schools can help Gen Z students build confidence to succeed in school and improve their mental health. The research, part of a multiyear nationwide, allows those supporting Gen Z’s mental health to hear directly from students about their perspectives, needs and desires.
The 2024 data reveals that schools and parents can help today’s students feel more confident and prepared for their future by harnessing Gen Z’s optimism and desire for connection. Between 80% and 93% of Gen Z say conversations with their parents about social media and mental health are helpful. Gen Zers also report a desire for strong relationships with teachers, with 70% of surveyed students saying their best teachers care about them as individuals.
